SEYGO Go Tournament 2024 İstanbulYou’re invited to the Istanbul Tournament organized by the Istanbul Go School, under the auspices of the European Go Federation and with the support of the Turkish Go Association, in the 6th season of SEYGO, held in Istanbul.

The main tournament will consist of 5 rounds. You can visit the EGF website for the SEYGO regulations applicable in the tournament. Participation in the main tournament is not mandatory to join the activities on Friday, October 18, and the Blitz Tournament.

There will be two age groups: U12 & U18.
(U12 born on 1st January 2012 or later and U18 born on 1st January 2006 or later)

About Side Events

    The Tea Ceremony and Koto Music performance previously held at our center

    The first two boards will be broadcast live, and there will be online analysis of the tournament by a professinal player, which will be streamed in the tournament waiting hall for parents and children to watch.

  • For parents and beginners, there will be beginner Go lessons from 14.00 to 15.00 on both Saturday and Sunday.
  • Throughout Saturday and Sunday, there will be free Go boards and board games available for those who finish their rounds early or have time between rounds
  • There will also be workshops (like origami or painting) for early finishers, and children can play garden and ball games in the garden during their free time. All these activities will be supervised by an instructor or organizer.

Participation Fee

15 euros for every playing participant. On Saturday morning, October 19th, payment can only be made in cash during the final registration at the tournament venue.

Accommodation

This information will be more precise after the decision of the venue of the Istanbul Go Tournament but for a moderate double room in a hotel in Istanbul is about 60 euros per night. There are some cheaper and more luxurious options. If you would like to be a guest of a Turkish family, please let us know through our contact page.

There are two international airports in Istanbul: New Istanbul airport (IST) on the European side of the city and Sabiha Gokcen Airport (SAW) on the Asian side.

Currency

1 Euro equals to about 34 Turkish Lira (TRY). The exchange rate in Turkey is very variable for the last couple of years. Therefore, you can check the daily currency via this web page.

Even though in some stores and restaurants you can pay with Euro, it will be faster, easier and more affordable to pay in Turkish Lira.

Tap Water

We do not recommend to drink tap water even if the official declaration is you can.

Electricity

Turkey operates on 220 volts, 50 Hz, with round-prong European-style plugs that fit into recessed wall sockets / points. Our guests from Europe can charge their devices without any need of an extra adapter, except UK.
